Guide
Who can join the waitlist
The support article says the research preview is for people on Pro and Max in the US, through a waitlist. It uses your Claude account settings and the usage limits on that Pro or Max plan. Team and Enterprise are not included yet. The article says Anthropic plans to bring Duet to those plans later, and it does not give a date.
The product FAQ says the same group: a waitlist for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US, with Team and Enterprise not included yet. The introducing article, published 2026-10-21, says the preview starts with US Pro and Max subscribers and that you join a waitlist.
What the support article requires
To use Duet, that article says you need all three of these:
- A Pro or Max plan.
- A Claude account in the US.
- An invitation from the waitlist.
Why an invite may not have arrived
The support article lists these reasons:
- Invitations go out in waves. Joining the waitlist does not reserve a date.
- During the research preview, Duet is available in the US only.
- It is not on Team or Enterprise yet.
- The email on the waitlist does not match the Claude account, or the Google or Apple account on the phone. Access is tied to the email address you submitted.
How the article says to join
The steps in the support article, shortened: open the product page and choose Join the waitlist, enter your name and the email on your Claude account, choose your Claude plan and phone type, and submit. People are added gradually, and the article says you get an email when it is your turn.
When that email arrives, the article says to open it on your phone and follow the iPhone or Android setup, using the Apple or Google account linked to the same email, then sign in to Duet with your Claude account. It can take a few minutes for the app to show up after you accept the invitation.
The product FAQ says the apps are iOS and Android, and that a computer uses the web at claude.ai.
Price and usage during the preview
The support article says that during the research preview, Duet is included with Pro and Max at no extra cost. It draws on the plan's usage limits, including the five-hour session and the weekly limits, at the same rate as chats in Claude. Background work, including the morning brief and check-ins, counts as well, so the limits can arrive sooner than with chat alone. The article says the account checks run on an interval so that background work does not spend the limits as fast.
When you are admitted, the article says you get one full reset of both the five-hour session and the weekly limits. It says that reset is available until November 30, 2026.
The product FAQ puts the usage point differently: Duet shares the plan limits with the rest of Claude and uses them differently from a typical conversation, because background checks count and larger tasks need more model turns and background work. Both pages are linked here so you can read the wording Anthropic published. This page does not add a dollar price. Plan prices live on Anthropic's own pricing pages, which are not restated here.
What the same sources say if the account is outside the US is on the availability page. This page does not describe any other way onto the preview.
